Non-Binary & Transgender Policy
The Running Kind strongly believes in equal rights & opportunities for all members of the trail running community. At this time, we offer a male, female & non-binary gender category at all of our events.
Transgender women can register in the female division provided they have been undergoing continuous, medically supervised hormone treatment for gender transition for at least one year prior to the race. They can register in male division or non-binary division with no restrictions. Transgender men can register in the male or female division, unless they are undergoing hormone treatment related to gender transition that includes testosterone or any other banned substance in which case they must register in the male category. Transgender people can register in the non-binary category.
At each of our events, we provide awards for all three categories: male, female & non-binary.
Adaptive Athlete Policy
Athletes with disabilities, also known as adaptive athletes, are welcome to participate in The Running Kind events. Adaptive athletes include, but are not limited to varying levels of permanent visual impairments, intellectual disability or physical or neurological movement impairment.
Each adaptive athlete will have the choice to run with a chosen guide runner, who will be given a free bib. And while adaptive athletes must be able to physically complete the course themselves, guide runners will accompany them on all or parts of the race to support them in safely achieving their goals.
All adaptive athletes must complete the form on the website which can also be found on each race registration page through Ultra Signup.
Pregnancy Policy
Athletes that are pregnant, have a partner that is pregnant or that are currently proceeding with surrogacy or adoption are eligible for the policy. Those eligible for the policy are able to receive a deferral for the coming year or a bib transfer to another athlete.
